The Barrel Farm is a sub-brand by Blackman's Brewery used to release their barrel aged beers, which have more of a niche market due to the complexity in flavours compared to their regular releases. We designed the sub-brand to reflect this.
The Barrel Farm beer have wrap around landscapes from different areas local to Torquay, that depict the scenery and/or farms where specific ingredients were foraged from.
The artwork is bright and vector based with a quirky palette using odd/unconventional colours
for items within the artwork (eg blue leaves, purple cliffs, green sky) as barrel aged beers have a bit of quirk to them too!
The logo design uses a barrel instead of a sun, with ‘roads’ crossing to represent the journey the brewers and the beers take when creating barrel aged beers. The theme of ‘journey’ is repeated across many of the beers through the use of foot prints, or a road or beach track within
the artwork.
We were so proud when these cans won the Global Crushie Award for Best Beer Can Design Series in the world at the Craft Beer Marketing Awards.
